You are buying a brand new Bowen Designs Marvel Comics Thanos on Space Throne limited edition statue. This fully painted statue stand over 15 1/2 inches tall, sculpted by Randy Bowen & The Shiflett Brothers , comes ready to display, and is fully painted. This is a LARGE statue! Dimensional shipping rates apply. This statue is brand new, never been removed from the box and never been displayed. Bowen indicates that this edition is sold out and allocated. Case number that you receive may be different from that in the photo. Photo of statue itself is a stock photo. As to the edition size there were to be 600 but in any case due to the return of some of them back to Bowen for replacement so there may be 600 more or less. It is very likely less than 600 as Bowen has halted the shipment of pre-orders and some buyers had returned the ones they received and they were not replaced. NOTE:*** This edition is sold out at the factory level and due to paint and other post production factory problems is one of Bowen's smaller runs. This statue is from the first and original production run and our original factory order. We were told that we could return the initial release but we elected to keep our allocation from Bowen productions as we have been told that Bowen does not have replacements nor plan to produce any more statues. We elected not to return our allocation back to Bowen as we were also told that they would not fix any of the statues returned to them and that they had halted original shipments and did not plan to complete the shipping of pre-orders. This resulted in many buyers having their orders canceled. The range of issues extend from none to serious but that is subjective and in the eye of the beholder. It is our policy to not open brand new statues to keep the item in its original condition as much as possible. We have never felt that there is a "mint" or perfect statue as they are hand cast and hand painted so each is unique. If you look at any statue closely you will see the imperfections from the result of human activity. ( Production, Painting, packing, shipping etc.) We also know that the mere opening of a statue for inspection or pictures will expose the item to to light, dust and worse of all, oils from the handling of the item among other potential issues. We are not making excuses for producers when indeed a piece has factory defects, poor sculpting or other production issues. Not all manufactuers have the same standards as DC statues for example are a cut below Bowen and Moore in quality etc. For example, we have known Moore to have rejected entire runs from the factory and this is not the first time Bowen has had production issues. In theory, every piece in a production run should be an exact clone of every other piece but in fact we know they are not as each piece is unique in some way at some level. Even so, the statue is sculpted by human hand and we have seen many tool marks on sculpts even after paint has been applied. Paint over lap or overspray is very common and you get different shades of paint color from one statue to the next. In the past we have kept our allocations from Bowen once we have physical delivery as the tendency is for those "problem" items become more collectible over time as they also tend to have smaller production runs. Unless you are talking about a unique piece like an original oil, it is almost impossible to avoid all of the differences between pieces in a very large run. We also consider statues in general to be works of art and as we all know all art is subjective that is "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". In some circles some collectors want these types of items as they may consider them to be errors or variants. It is totally up to the buyer as long as issues are not a surprise to the buyer and the process is transparent. The process and judgement is subjective as the same piece may solicit different reactions from different people. There are plenty of statues out that simulate battle damage etc. Thanos was one of the last sons of Alars, progenitor of the second colony of Eternals of Titan, and Sui-San, the last survivor of the original settlement of Eternals on Titan. Born with grey, hide-like skin and a massive body, Thanos was a morose child who became obsessed with the concept of death.
